For the Acqua dell'Elba Foundation , 'culture' means above all 'spreading a growing awareness on the issues of the sea, at 360°. '
Making the culture of the sea by cutting transversely environment, economy and society is a challenge and a commitment that we renew every year with our festival SEIF - Sea Essence International Festival.
Founded in 2018 and under the management of the Foundation since 2022, SEIF is the first international festival dedicated to the protection and enhancement of the sea and its essence. A protection and enhancement of the sea to be understood as the protection of its environment, biodiversity and species, and also of its beauty, its history and its contribution to the growth of cultures and societies.
SEIF 's mission is to make the sea loved, as it is only through a true and authentic passion like the love that every goal - also that of safeguarding and enhancing the sea, which with the spending time seems increasingly difficult - it can become possible.
Seɪf's vision is to back to giving the sea its rightful centrality, starting from a renewed invitation to the economy, politics and society to work towards this end.
For these reasons, The Acqua dell'Elba Foundation has designed an event that ranges from reason to emotion and that faces the thinking and dreaming at the same time. A multifaceted event that reveals the depth of the essence of the sea while keeping the human being, their dreams, virtues, and hopes linked to the sea at the centre. All told through the voices of history, economics, the arts, anthropology, culture, politics, music, cinema, and society, in a multidisciplinary approach as numerous as the souls of the sea.
It is organized by the Acqua dell'Elba Foundation and, during the last edition, it received the endorsement of the United Nations Decade of Marine Sciences for Sustainable Development (2021-2030) and the patronage of the Ministry of Environment and Energy Security, Ministry for Civil Protection and Marine Policies, Coast Guard - Port Authority, Tuscany Region, National Park Arcipelago Toscano, Federarchi, Brera Academy of Fine Arts, IULM University, Legambiente, Marevivo, Ispra, ASVIS, Symbola, Minor Islands Association, Phoenicians' Route , Northern Tyrrhenian Sea Port Authority, VisitElba, Municipality of Marciana Marina, Municipality of Campo nell'Elba, Municipality of Porto Azzurro, Municipality of Portoferraio, Municipality of Capoliveri, Municipality of Rio, Youth Forum Island of Elba, Pro Loco Marciana Marina.
